Lotus and Domino Courses

Lotus Notes Basic Mail & Calendaring           $200
An overview of the features and functions of Lotus Notes. Topics presented include: Notes introduction, review of the Workspace, Notes mail, calendaring and scheduling aspects, and security features.

Lotus Notes Advanced Mail & Calendaring
           $200
Advanced features in Mail & Calendaring (such as archiving) for the end-user are covered. Designed to take the experienced Lotus Notes user to the next level.

Lotus Basic Domino Administration            $450
Designed for the new Domino Administrator responsible for the administration of a Domino infrastructure. This course will cover the basics of Lotus Notes Administration and will equip the Administrator with the knowledge to fine-tune and manage a Domino infrastructure.
One Day
Prerequisites:
  Helpful to have experience in networks and/or operating systems. End-user Lotus Notes experience helpful. Some e-mail experience, namely SMTP, is recommended.


Lotus Advanced Domino Administration            $450
This course is designed for Domino administrators using the Lotus Notes Administrator client to manage their Domino infrastructsure. Using the Lotus Domino Administrator client, students will learn how to navigate through the administration tabs to accomplish advanced configuration settings..

iSeries Courses

iSeries Basic Overview & PDM            $450
Designed to introduce managers, programmers and operators to basic features of the iSeries. Topics include: handling messages, running programs, job types, starting and terminating jobs, controlling printer output, menu system, help feature, concepts of objects and libraries, command language, Program Development Manager (PDM).

iSeries Relational Database
          $900
Learn relational database design concepts and implementation techniques. Study database-design using reference, physical, logical and join files utilizing normalization techniques. Advanced concepts such as open query file, referential constraints and trigger programs are also covered.

iSeries Operations           $900
Introduction to all aspects of iSeries operations. Topics include IPL and power down procedures, system values and menus, device operations using tape, diskette and printers, spool file management, error message handling, objects and libraries, library searches, subsystems, jobs, journal management, storage pools, RAID, mirroring, and system security.

iSeries Navigator Introduction           $450
This powerful GUI tool is a no-charge option that ships with Client Access. This course introduces the wide variety of tools and wizards packed in that product. Topics include installation, job management, printer management, database management, security management, backup management and many other topics.

Remote System Explorer $450
This highly interactive lab leads you through its own exploration of IBM's RSE component of Websphere Development Studio Client (WDSc). The GUI replacement for PDM contains a wealth of useful features. Programmers taking this course can count on getting a jump start with this new and powerful tool.

iSeries Query           $450
iSeries Query is a decision support utility used to select, sequence and layout data using one or more database files. Designed to show users how to generate reports and manage data.

iSeries Security            $450
Designed for data processing professionals responsible for implementing iSeries security. Topics covered include: basic system security concepts, the five different levels of system security, use of security control items such as devices, passwords, user profiles, and procedures for building data security into applications.

iSeries Work Management            $450
Work Management controls the flow of work into the system. Students learn how to use work management tools to set up, tune and modify the flow of work to fit the environment. As a result, students will learn how to minimize response time and maximize throughput.

iSeries CL Programming           $1350
CL programming language introduction for programmers with other language skills. Course objective is to explain the programming constructs needed to develop CL programs and commands.

SQL Courses

SQL/400 Interactive           $450
Introduction to the SQL language on the iSeries. SQL is a powerful tool for database manipulation on many platforms. This class will review implementation on the iSeries, SQL syntax with hands on examples and SQL tools.

SQL/400 Embedded            $450
Embedded SQL is a one-day course designed for RPG programmers who have some understanding of SQL. This course will provide adetailed review of the techniques used to embed SQL instructions inside RPG programs. Embedded SQL combines the flexibility of SQL with the sophistication of RPG to create powerful hybrid programs. Demonstrations of embedding techniques use hands-on labs and will review more advanced concepts.

RPG Courses

RPG/400 Introduction            $1800
Designed for students with no prior RPG/400 programming experience. Learn how to: write batch RPG/400 programs utilizing structured operation codes, create physical and logical files, define and access externally described files, and compile and debug RPG/400 programs.
Four Days
Prerequisites:  
iSeries Basic Overview & PDM, or equivalent


RGP/400 for RPG Programmers            $900
Designed for the experienced RPG programmer, but new to the iSeries. Course objectives are: write programs using new operation codes, create physical and logical files, define and access externally described files, and compile and debug RPG/400 programs.

RPG/400 Interactive Programming            $1350
Designed for the experienced RPG/400 programmer. Introduction to SDA and interactive programming. Learn how to utilize SDA to develop display files, error subfiles, and menus. Upon course completion, students will be able to write inquiry and maintenance programs using error subfiles.

RPG/400 Advanced Programming
           $1350
Designed for experienced RPG/400 programmers seeking knowledge in subfile programming and other advanced topics. Learn how to write interactive programs utilizing subfiles, and write report programs using external printer files.

RPG IV (ILE)            $1350
Introduction to RPG IV programming language on the iSeries for experienced RPG/400 programmers. Modifications to existing RPG/400 characteristics, and new functions and techniques incorporated in RPG IV will be presented. Includes hands-on examples of interactive source code debugger usage, as well as ILE concepts, and subprocedures.
Three Days
Prerequisites:  
Knowledge of Interactive RPG/400 and familiarity with PDM and SEU


ILE Advanced            $1350
The purpose of this course is to explore the ILE programming environment in detail. It is assumed that the students are experienced iSeries RPG IV programmers. This class will review how to create and use service programs and sub procedures, how to determine what activation group to use, and how to simplify and manage your programs in an ILE environment. The course also introduces an object-oriented programming model similar to Java.

Knowledge of RPG IV on the iSeries and some familiarity with ILE

WebSphere Studio Introduction            $450
An introduction to IBM's WebSphere Studio product and designed for beginners to Web developers. This powerful, integrated tools allows for easy Web site creation and management. Students will learn how to create simple Web pages and publish them to an iSeries server.

HTML Introduction            $450
This language is the basis for most Intranet and Internet Web pages. Designed for beginners, no expensive tools are required. This course covers the basic topics required to present content to a Web browser. Course includes text formatting, embedding images, creating links, hyperlinks, using style sheets, frames, and tables.

iSeries Introduction to Java $450
Designed for iSeries programmers interested in learning the basics of java programming. This course covers basics such as Java syntax, data types, classes, and inheritance. Ineraction witfh the iSeries database is also covered.
