Audience: This course is designed for individuals with no prior RPG programming experience
Description: The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the RPG/400 language. The objectives are for students
to be able to write batch RPG/400 programs, create physical and logical files, define and access
externally described files, compile RPG/400 programs and use the interactive debugger.
Course Content:
- Features of the RPG/400 language, including basic coding rules and structured programming techniques.
- The compile process, including compiler options and reading the compiler output.
- Basic concepts behind databases along with the development filed reference files, physical fields, and logical files.
- The process of defining externally described files.
- Steps for accessing and updating sequential and random files.
- Output from compiling externally described files.
- The use of the interactive source debugger.
