AS/Credentials RPG/400 for RPG Programmers Class
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the RPG/400 programming language. Objectives are for students to be able to write programs using the new operation codes, create physical and logical files, define and access externally described files, compile RPG/400 programs and utilize the interactive debugger. This course is designed for the experienced RPG programmer new to the iSeries.

- Prerequisites: Basic Overview and PDM. Students should be comfortable with the editor (SEU) on the iSeries and have at least some experience with RPG.

Course Content:
- New features of the RPG/400 language, including new operation codes and structured programming techniques.
- The compile process, including compiler options and reading the compiler output.
- Basic concepts behind databases along with the development of field reference files, physical files, and logical files.
- The process of defining externally described files in RPG/400.
- Steps for accessing and updating sequential and random files.
- Output from compiling externally described files.
- The use of the interactive source debugger.
