AS/Credentials RPG/400 Interactive

Prerequisites: RPG/400 Introduction or RPG/400 for RPG Programmers. Students should be comfortable working with the editor (SEU) on the iSeries, and writing simple RPG programs.

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to SDA and interactive programming techniques. The objectives are for students to learn to utilize SDA to develop display files, error sub-files, and menus. In addition, students will earn to write inquiry and maintenance programs using error sub-files. The RPG/400 Interactive Course is designed for the experienced RPG programmer who has minimal or no knowledge of SDA or RPG interactive programming.

  • RPG/400 Introduction or RPG/400 for RPG Programmers. Students should be comfortable working with the editor (SEU) on the iSeries, and writing simple RPG programs.

Course Content:

  • The process for creating message files and message descriptions.
  • The features of the SDA, including display files, message sub-files, and menus.
  • The definition and handling of display files in RPG/400.

  • The definition of error sub-fields in SDA and their use in a RPG/400 program.
